Sometimes there are those DIY projects that seem like they'll be quick and painless - well, let me tell ya - those are usually the ones that take the longest! During a trip to Wade's ranch in West Texas, I came across a treasure trove of Cow, Ram and Deer skulls that he's been collecting over the years in an abandoned barn. Being the DIY fiend that I am, I immediately recalled seeing rhinestone encrusted skulls selling upwards of $4,000 and figued - "Hey! why not make one myself?!". 5 months later and here we are, my half embellished skull and I. Unfortunately I was a very bad blogger and didn't catalogue my entire process but I promise that I will do so for the second part of this very tedious process. See below for a list of the materials I used as well as where to buy!
Materials:
Swarovski Rhinestones - 14mm, 16mm and 20mm in Jet Black - approximately 600 of each
Rhinestone Glue - I used the official Swarovski glue
Black matte paint - Any brand is fine - I used Bejamin Moore since we had it laying around from a previous project
Gold Metallic Paint - Will be used in Part 2 for eye sockets and other white areas
Where I Bought It:
Rhinestones and Glue are both available at RhinestonesUnlimited.com
